Your first flying lesson will be a two hour appointment with a FAA certified flight instructor. The actual flight portion of the lesson is nearly one hour.
This very first flight lesson closely resembles what an actual lesson wlll be like, right down to some preparation that you might want to accomplish before arriving at the airport.
To prepare for your lesson you may want to download the free FAA Flying Handbook:
http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aircraft/airplane_handbook/.
Read the first chapters that deal with aircraft preflight inspection and basic flight maneuvers.
Aircraft preflight procedures, airplane components, basic terminology and beginning maneuvers are great topics to review before your flight lesson.
After briefing you on our flight training program, the instructor will perform a walk around inspection (preflight inspection) of the aircraft together with you.
For the flight portion, you will take the pilot seat on the left. Other than for takeoff and landing, where the instructor will be assisting you, we want you to be handling the controls at all times during this flight.
You will perform some basic maneuvering under the safe guidance of your flight instructor.
You can arrange for a first flying lesson directly in our pilot shop online.
