California Flight School Youth Aviation Program (YAP):
Great activities, dedicated instructors: An early start into aviation

Put down that game console controller! Stop text messaging and lounging without a purpose!

Young people in aviation:

- Have a goal and purpose, get interested in a great field that will benefit you many ways!

- A hobby and an interest that has young people interact, learn, enjoy, and all that without a game console!

A very flexible schedule from single individual classes to Youth Aviation Camp groups (YAC) where we offer daily activies and programs during school holidays. Choose from an extensive menu of classroom activities, visit local aviation businesses and take trips to air shows. Flight activities ranging from the individual lesson to a package of starter programs to work towards certification!

Our Youth Aviation Program (YAP) is most active during school holidays, especially during the summer (our Youth Aviation Camp YAC).

Outside the school vacation we offer individual activities that can be group activities depending on how many young people have joined up at a time. These activities range from:

- individual classes on aviation topics, like aviation weather or aerodynamics for young aviators

- a visit to an aviation facility like a maintenance hangar, or air traffic control tower

- individual training classes (flights and ground instruction)

Youth Aviation Program (YAP) cost:

The typical ground/flight session would look like this:

- Classroom session on a specific topic (1 hour)

- Aircraft preflight inspection and flight preparation (30 minutes)

- Flight lesson/flight activity (30 minutes)

The charge for this event for young aviators is $160. (prices subject to change)

The typical ground/activity session for example:

- review recent math problems and topics in your current school curriculum

- apply these math topics in a aviation context

- spend two valuable hours learning about aviation, and get your math skills up!

The charge for this event for young aviators is $100. (prices subject to change)

There are other events that range in price from "free" to a custom tailored weekend flying adventure.

LEARN TO FLY: Private Pilot Course
From 'zero time' to aviator
If flying an airplane is your dream, stop dreaming and start flying! Take that important first step and find out what it takes to make this dream come true.
IFR: Instrument Rating
Add on rating
The IFR rating is an add on rating to an existing pilot certificate. It removes the 'bad weather' and low visibility restrictions from your pilot certificate.
COM: Commercial Pilot Certificate
Ready to go to work?
A commercial pilot certificate is required to be able to fly for compensation. Flight Instructors, Banner-Tow, Agricultural Spraying and traffic watch are examples of commercial flying activity.
